The Health Professions Education Research Symposium will be held at Nova Southeastern University on January 16, 2010. A current call for abstracts is underway. The purpose of the NSU Symposium is to provide a dynamic forum to engage faculty from across the nation in a dialogue about educational research and the scholarship of teaching in the professions. To this end, this symposium will provide opportunities for health professions educators to:
- Disseminate original research through a peer reviewed process.
- Share innovative program ideas with an interdisciplinary audience.
- Update your knowledge from experts and researchers.
- Participate and learn from educational workshops that enhance skills needed for educational research.
- Network with professions educators who are interested in educational research and the scholarship of teaching.
The full-day conference features nationally recognized speakers and a variety of educational sessions including research presentations, poster presentations, and workshops.

Keynote Speakers
Derek Bruff, PhD, is an assistant director at the Vanderbilt Center for Teaching and a senior lecture in the Vanderbilt Department of Mathematics. His recently published book, Teaching with Classroom Response Systems, offers a wealth of suggestions and insight into how to get the best from this educational technology.
Jim Vanides, MA in Education, is a member of the HP Global Social Investment team, responsible for worldwide education philanthropy strategy. He is also the Senior Program Manager for education technology grants for school systems and higher education institutions in the US.
